Joye Wiley has worked as an immigration lawyer in San Francisco for over 10 years. Her practice includes family immigration, deportation defense, and asylum law. Ms. Wiley takes pride in having assisted hundreds of families unite and obtain legal status in the United States.

Ms. Wiley received her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis (King Hall), and is a graduate of the school's Immigration Clinic. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in International Studies from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1990. She attended Salzburg College in Salzburg, Austria, where she studied European history and politics.

In 2008 and 2009, Ms. Wiley was named by California Super Lawyer magazine as one of the top immigration attorneys in Northern California. The magazine chooses the top five percent of attorneys in their fields by way of a multi-stepped process of work evaluation and peer review.

Ms. Wiley is frequently invited to speak on immigration topics, and has lectured at universities, community and non-profit organizations, and professional associations. Ms. Wiley acts as a mentor and advisor to attorneys who represent asylum seekers pro bono for the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights. She also has provided training to attorneys in topics ranging from ethics in immigration law to presenting asylum claims. She performs pro bono work for the AIDS Legal Referral Panel, and has represented detained aliens along the U.S.-Mexico border pro bono through a program sponsored by the Texas State Bar.

Ms. Wiley has served on the Executive Board for the Northern California Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. In that position she served as a liaison between private attorneys and Immigration Judges of the Executive Office for Immigration Review. She currently sits on the Alumni Council of the Immigration Law Clinic at the University of California-Davis School of Law (King Hall).

Ms. Wiley is a member of the State Bar of California, and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the National Lawyers Guild and the National Immigration Project.

Ms. Wiley previously lived in Costa Rica, where she worked as an English teacher through a program with the Center for International Development of Harvard University. She has traveled throughout Brazil, Mexico, Central America, and Europe.

She speaks Portuguese and Spanish.
